Criteria for Program Application and Admission

The BSN program requires a secondary application for admission. Students admitted from high school typically apply to the BSN program in the first semester of their 2nd year at JMU. Transfer students typically apply after completing one semester of full-time course work. Admission to the BSN program is competitive and meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee program admission. Nursing courses are restricted to admitted BSN students.

Applications for admission are accepted twice per calendar year.

• For admission to the Fall cohort, applications are due by December 1 and transcripts are due by January 11
• For admission to the Spring cohort, applications are due by July 1 and transcripts are due by August 31. Transcripts must be submitted electronically to The JMU School of Nursing using the following email address:meadowra@jmu.edu. JMU transcripts do not have to be submitted. These will be reviewed when JMU grades post for the current semester. If there is a change to the JMU transcript after the last day of the current semester, applicants must notify the School of Nursing regarding this change

Transfer Students

Thank you for your interest in James Madison University’s Nursing Program. Admission to the Nursing Program is separate from admission to the university and requires a BSN Admission Application. Included are some helpful directions and tips for a successful transition.
