Augusta Health Research Committee

Exciting times with Augusta Health nurses who are partnering with JMU Nursing Faculty to assist in “jump starting” nursing research at the bedside. The Research Committee formed to serve the various nursing councils within Augusta Health. This committee is tasked with providing ongoing support and Evidenced Based Research as nursing councils identify researchable nursing issues.

Dr. Judith Rocchiccioli, Dr. Linda Hulton and Prof. Susan Brooks visited the Augusta Health Campus to work together with the committee. During Fall 2010, the committee identified a practice problem and reviewed the research literature to solve the problem using Evidence Based  models.  James Madison University  Library databases and resources aided the committee.  A statistics review along with Journal Club Introduction/Guidelines were also presented as the committee participated in critiquing peer-reviewed publications.

This all proved to be a robust start to the liaison with Augusta Health Nursing Research and JMU Nursing Faculty. We look forward to this partnership and serving their needs in 2011.
