RN to BSN Completion Program


RN to BSN Co-Enrollment Admission Requirements

Students who are interested in the RN to BSN co-enrollment program must:

  • have been accepted into a participating VCCS school – students should check with their school to see if a co-enrollment agreement exists
  • present transcripts reflecting a cumulative GPA on all college work attempted of 2.5 or better on a 4-point scale
  • submit a copy of their nursing program schedule
  • have completed all prerequisite courses with a grade of “C” or better
  • be able to meet the JMU School of Nursing Technical Standards for nursing practice
  • follow guidelines set forth in the RN/BSN Handbook
  • complete a transcript review with the RN/BSN program that reflects all prerequisite courses have been or will be completed by the time a student will enter the first co-enrollment semester

They must also have completed the following prerequisites at their VCCS:

  • BIO 141 Human Anatomy & Physiology I**
  • ENG 111 College Composition I
  • PSY 230 Developmental Psychology (PSY 231 and PSY 232 may substitute for PSY 230)
  • SDV Student Development
  • General Education (College Option)**

** Human Anatomy & Physiology classes must have been completed within the previous eight (8) years
** General Education (College Option) refers to a course of the college’s choice that fulfills a general education requirement specific to the college. Examples are: SOC 200, 201 or 215; PHI 225, 226 or 227; ENG 112.
