The Nursing and Health Care in Costa Rica: An Interprofessional Perspective summer study abroad opportunity is open to all students in the RN-BSN program, including qualified co-enrollment students. This opportunity fulfills the community health clinical course requirement that is a part of the RN-BSN program.

Interested degree-seeking (non co-enrollment) students:

Interested co-enrollment students must:

  • Have successfully completed 1 semester of coursework as a co-enrollment student in the JMU RN-BSN program.
  • Have successfully completed 2 semesters in their ADN program through VCCS.
  • Have discussed how this opportunity impacts progression with JMU RN-BSN adviser.
  • Have an active non-degree seeking application on file. Students remain active as non-degree seeking for one year (fall, spring, and summer) as long as they enroll in a class at JMU each semester. If students do not enroll in a class each semester, they will be discontinued as a student and will need to reapply. All non-degree seeking students are discontinued at the end of summer and need to reapply for the following year.

Successful completion of coursework in both JMU and ADN programs is imperative for co-enrollment applicants. A course failure in one or both programs will result in applicant’s inability to participate in the study abroad opportunity and their application will become null and void with no refund of payment.

Visit the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) website for the application and additional information.
