In her role with the Virginia Nurses Foundation, Dr. Pierce McDaniel leads the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council in advocating for justice, equity and inclusion of  underrepresented individuals in education, research, health care, technology, and nursing practice. She highlights their contributions in paving the way for a better American workforce. Working with the JMU School of Nursing, Dr. Pierce McDaniel lends her expertise as an Ambassador and a Consultant to help build a stronger and more diverse community of faculty and students in the Nursing program.

Dr. Pierce McDaniel is an active member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leadership Network (DEILN), and a 2022 AACN Diversity Leadership Institute mentor. She co-chairs the DNPs of Color Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Antiracism and Advocacy Committee and is the President of the Central Virginia Chapter of the National Black Nurses Association.
