Admission to the BSN Program

**Please note that to apply to the Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) program you must be a full-time student at James Madison University and meet all admission requirements and prerequisites as stated on the nursing website. If you are a prospective transfer or incoming freshman please see the Admission Frequently Asked Questions link above. The nursing program is a competitive program; an applicant meeting the minimum nursing requirements and prerequisites are not guaranteed admission to the Bachelors of Science in Nursing Program.

Licensure/Certification

What are Technical Standards?

Technical standards are basic physical, cognitive, and psychosocial skills and abilities that are required for nursing practice. The following standards were developed to guide students to make an informed decision regarding nursing as a career. In order to complete the nursing curriculum and enter practice as a registered professional nurse, all students must possess abilities and skills in the areas of sensation, communication, motor function and behavioral proficiency.
